CT Scans use a special combination of x-ray and computer technology to provide highly detailed cross-sectional views of the human body. State-of-the-art ct scan equipment is especially useful in viewing the internal anatomy (or structure) of body parts.
CT Scans are non-invasive, safe, and painless (some exams may require an injection of a contrast medium for added clarity). The Stroke Center at Kent Hospital uses CT scanning as a principal diagnostic tool to identify the presence of a brain attack or stroke. CT scanning is also used in conjunction with some needle biopsies and aspiration (draining) of fluid.
Kent's low-dose CT Scan is appropriate for patients at high risk for developing lung cancer. With specialized equipment, we provide cardiac calcium scoring and coronary angiography.
