Skin Cancer: If You Can Spot It, You Can Stop It

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers; more than 3.5 million skin cancers are diagnosed each year in the U.S. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early. When allowed to progress, however, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and even death.

To assist the public in spotting potential skin cancers, Kent Hospital, a Care New England hospital, is offering a free skin screening on Wednesday, May 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Breast Health Center at Kent Hospital, 455 Toll Gate Road, Warwick (located to the left of the hospital’s Emergency Department).

Screenings will be provided by dermatologist Ellen Frankel, MD, and her physician assistant. There is no fee for the initial screening.

The program is sponsored by Kent Hospital’s cancer program and supported by the American Academy of Dermatology. Registration is required by Friday, May 25. To register please call (401) 737-7010, extension 31864, or email lmillerick@kentri.org, and provide your full name and phone number. Space is limited.
